John McCutcheon
Concert ⁄ Live Music 7:30 pm - Tulsa Performing Arts Center
Location: Tulsa Performing Arts Center - John H. Williams Theatre
Presented by PAC Trust Music @ 2nd & Cincinnati
Johnny Cash called John McCutcheon "the most impressive instrumentalist I've ever heard," but even that high praise could be an understatement. It's true he's a master of a dozen traditional instruments, including the rare and lovely hammer dulcimer, but McCutcheon is also a gifted songwriter, storyteller and social activist who is often compared to Pete Seeger, Garrison Keillor and Oklahoma's own Woody Guthrie and Will Rogers.
McCutcheon isn't timid about expressing his religious and political convictions in his songs, but says, "My music and shows are a big, broad swath of all kinds of stuff." He credits his "ecumenical approach" to writing and singing to Guthrie, whose songbook taught him that "the whole word is your palette, and it's also your whole audience." As a result, his wide-ranging repertoire includes kids' songs ("Happy Adoption Day"), love songs ("Last First Kiss"), funny songs ("When I Grow Up"), protest songs ("Not in My Name") and more.

100 Monkeys
Concert ⁄ Live Music 7:00 pm - Cain's Ballroom
Location: Cain's Ballroom
If the name Jackson Rathbone sounds familiar, chances are you’re a 13-year-old Twi-hard. Rathbone stars as one of the sparkly vampires in the Twilight films, and is currently touring with his improv rock band, 100 Monkeys. What better way to utilize your already rabid fanbase than by parlaying it into a music career? 100 Monkeys put on an all-ages rock show that’s interactive, so their (undoubtedly screaming) fans can influence the performance with their suggestions. Dubbed on their Myspace as “Japanese classic music/2-step/Psychobilly,” their sound is eclectic and very upbeat, if a bit unfocused. There’s no telling how the live show will go though, so check it out and report back, just be prepared for the screaming. Lots and lots of screaming.
